Interesting Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil
When I first read the ingredients in Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream, I was a bit apprehensive because coconut oil tends to break my skin out, but it has a ton of great reviews so I figured it may be just fine, unfortunately it wasn’t.
A few positive things about this retinol cream are that it feels nice on the skin and it has a nice, light neutral scent. But, that’s pretty much where the positives stop.
After using this retinol short term, it dried out my skin which can be common with retinols when you first start using them. But, after using this for a longer period of time, it continued to dry my skin out and not only did it dry out my skin, but it caused major breakouts that were painful and deep. Not only did it cause dryness and breakouts, but it also didn’t do anything positive for my skin at all.
Overall, Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream didn’t work for my skin and I won’t be using this retinol cream again.
The texture and feeling of Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream are a light, almost gel-like consistency. It feels nice on the skin and leaves somewhat of a cooling sensation as it settles in the skin and dries.
This retinol cream is actually pretty annoying to apply; it comes in a jar with a pump, but the pump works about half the time at best and it’s very difficult to control the amount of product that comes out. Despite the jar and pump being annoying, once the product is on the skin, it’s easy to use and spreads out nicely.
This retinol cream only takes about 30 seconds to absorb into the skin and dry down. It doesn’t leave any residue on the skin and leaves the skin feeling nice and cool.
There is a light, neutral scent that actually smells really nice; I prefer unscented but this smells good.
Short Term Results
Short term I noticed my skin was kind of dry, which is normally a promising sign that the retinol is working so I was not too alarmed when my skin began to dry out.
Longer Term Results
After using Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream for a longer period of time, I started to get some negative side effects and my skin began to suffer. I started to develop large, painful breakouts and my skin never evened out from the drying; it just continued to feel dry and very tight. I noticed absolutely zero benefits from this product. It did nothing but leave my skin dry and majorly broken out and irritated.
There are many ingredients in Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream that look interesting, but the three I want to look at closer are aloe vera, coconut oil, and jojoba oil.
First, aloe vera is known to be a healing ingredient and can help the skin combat free radicals which can help prevent future signs of aging.
Next, I wanted to talk about coconut oil because it’s kind of a controversial ingredient when it comes to putting it topically on the face. Coconut oil can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles but it can also cause breakouts because it’s highly comedogenic which means it clogs pores. I was worried when I saw that it was in this retinol and sure enough it broke me out.
Lastly, jojoba oil is great for helping with anti-aging because it can boost the skin’s elasticity as well as aid in hydration.
I found these three ingredients interesting and they can definitely work well for anti-aging, especially if your skin isn’t bothered by the coconut oil.
The cost of Bloommy Collagen & Retinol Cream is $22.00 for 1.7 oz of product which comes out to $12.94 per oz.
