Overall Opinion:
Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol is an average retinol serum that helped with anti-aging a little bit, but not as much as I would like.
The texture and feeling of this serum is super thin and runny, and a little bit goes a long way. As it dries down on the skin, it leaves the skin feeling sticky and once it’s dry after about 45 seconds, the stickiness never goes away.
The serum comes in a bottle with a pump which I like a lot, and you really only need one pump to cover your entire face and neck.
The smell of this serum is probably my least favorite part about it; it has a super strong, super nasty smell that reminds me of one of those lemon scented house cleaning products. I don’t like putting a product that smells like that on my face at all.
After using this product for a short period of time, I got a few breakouts around my face and my skin was also super dry and flaky.
Thankfully, after using this serum for a longer period of time, the breakouts went away and my skin started to feel smoother and more plump. It helped with my fine lines, but I didn’t notice enough of a difference to really continue using this product.
Overall, Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol helped a bit with my fine lines but didn’t make a big difference in the wrinkles on my skin.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
The texture and feeling of Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol is very liquidy when first applied to the skin; it’s the kind of product that will run down your face if you don’t rub it in. It also kind of feels cooling on the skin when it’s first applied and the feeling intensifies as it dries. Once it dries, it feels really sticky and that feeling doesn’t go away,
Application
This retinol serum comes in a bottle with a pump applicator which makes it really easy to apply.
The pump lets out a decent amount of product with each pump, and since the product is super runny a little bit goes a long way. You only need about 1 pump for your entire face and neck.
Drying Time
Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol takes about 45 seconds to a minute to dry, as it dries it feels really sticky and that stickiness never really subsides which I don’t like.
Smell
The smell is awful; it smells like a lemony chemical you would use to clean your house. The smell is really strong and it doesn’t go away, so keep that in mind.
Short Term Results
After using Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol for a short period of time, I noticed that my skin was super dry and flaky. I also experienced breakouts along my chin and forehead.
Longer Term Results
Over a longer period of time using this retinol serum, the breakouts went away and it started to help with the texture of my skin and plump up my fine lines. I didn’t notice a big difference in the deeper wrinkles, but like I said, it did plump up fine lines and helped out with the texture of my skin.
Ingredients Analysis
Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol is full of a lot of great ingredients of anti-aging such as hyaluronic acid, green tea, and aloe.
Hyaluronic acid is known for locking moisture into the skin, plumping up the skin, and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.
Green tea is great for anti-aging because it can help rejuvenate the skin with its antioxidant properties as well as help with puffiness and inflammation.
Aloe is very healing and can help with anti-aging by rebuilding the collagen in your skin and plump up the fine lines and wrinkles.
Together, these three ingredients can be great for helping the skin with anti-aging and helping to reverse fine lines and wrinkles.
Price
The cost of this retinol serum is $23.97 for 1 oz of product.
