Overall Opinion:

Olay is a very reputable brand that has a ton of great products, so I was excited to try another retinol from their company. But Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Face Moisturizer just really let me down in basically every way.

The texture and feeling of this retinol are very thick and heavy, but when you apply it onto the skin, it spreads out and absorbs nicely and doesn’t leave any kind of residue on the skin.

This retinol comes in a jar which isn’t my favorite because I feel like the product is exposed to more germs which then gets on your face. The product also takes on the smell of the jar which is made of plastic, therefore the product totally smells like plastic which isn’t pleasant.

As for the results, short term my skin felt very hydrated and moisturizer. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. My skin ended up totally breaking out from this retinol, not only that but I saw no other positives from this retinol moisturizer at all. There was no difference to my fine lines and wrinkles and it definitely didn’t help with hyperpigmentation or texture.

Overall, this night face moisturizer was super disappointing. From the jar to the breakouts, this retinol moisturizer is definitely not for me.

Detailed Opinion:

Texture/Feel

The texture and feeling of Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Face Moisturizer are very thick and velvety when you first scoop it out of the jar, but as you apply it onto your skin, it actually absorbs nicely and doesn’t leave any kind of film.

Application

This retinol is easy to apply, but it comes in a jar which I really don’t like because I feel like it’s much harder to keep germ free. Despite the jar, it’s easy to apply and absorbs nicely into the skin like I mentioned before.

Drying Time

Although this cream is very thick, it dries pretty quickly and it takes about 20 seconds to dry.

Smell

This product smells absolutely awful; it smells totally like plastic which is probably from the jar that it comes in. The plastic smell is very potent though, so if you’re sensitive to smells, you may be bothered by it.

Short Term Results

After using this night face moisturizer for a short period of time, my skin felt and looked very hydrated and moisturized.

Longer Term Results

After using this retinol for a longer period of time, it ended up breaking out my skin like crazy. Not only did my skin break out, but it really didn’t do anything positive for my skin.

Ingredients Analysis

There are a few interesting ingredients in this retinol moisturizer including niacinamide, amino peptide, and glycerin.

First, niacinamide is supposed to help the skin with anti-aging in multiple ways. It can help the skin retain moisture and keep it seriously hydrated while also helping with skin cell turnover which helps reduce the appearance of aging.

Next, amino peptides are a great ingredient for anti-aging because they help the skin produce more collagen. Collagen helps keep the skin looking tighter and smoother.

Lastly, glycerin is another ingredient that is supposed to help keep the skin super moisturized. It is supposed to help keep your skin soft and smooth and even diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Overall, these three ingredients should help keep the skin hydrated and looking and feeling supple and smooth.

Price

The cost is $28.99 for 1.7 oz of product which comes out to $17.05 per oz.

I think this is definitely pricey especially for a drug store retinol moisturizer.

Guarantee

Unfortunately, this night face moisturizer doesn’t have a money back guarantee.
