Overall Opinion:
Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer was definitely not my favorite retinol product because it ended up making my skin break out like crazy.
The texture and feeling of Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer are super thick and heavy, and it felt incredibly heavy on my skin which is not the best feeling.
This retinol product was pretty easy to apply; it comes in a jar with a pump applicator which is good because the product stays nice and sanitary. But I don’t love the smell of this product; it kind of smells like chemicals.
After using Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer, my skin started to become irritated and congested, and it was breaking out a little bit.
After using Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer for a longer period of time, my skin continued to be irritated and it was breaking out in deep breakouts all over my cheeks and face. This product was clearly much too heavy for my skin.
Overall, Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer didn’t work for my sensitive skin and it caused more issues in my skin than benefits.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
The texture and feeling of Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer are super thick and heavy, and it feels very heavy on the skin. I typically don’t like when my retinol creams are too heavy because it tends to clog my pores and doesn’t work well with my sensitive skin.
Application
Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer comes in a jar will a push down pump, and while those aren’t totally my favorite applicators, I like that it comes with a pump to keep the product sanitary.
Even though this product is thick, it goes on the skin pretty easily and you don’t need too much product to cover the whole face and neck.
Drying Time
Even though Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer is a really thick product, it doesn’t take too long to dry down… about 15 seconds is all it takes to dry.
Smell
I really don’t like the smell of Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer; it smells kind of like chemicals and plastic.
Short Term Results
After using Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer for a short period of time, my skin started to break out a little bit. My pores were definitely more clogged than normal and I was getting little pimples on my cheeks, chin, and forehead.
Longer Term Results
After using Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer for a longer period of time, my skin became even more irritated and broken out with deep breakouts all over my cheeks. This retinol really didn’t work well with my skin; the thick texture was too heavy on my skin which ended up clogging my pores.
Ingredients Analysis
Nuva Skin Retinol Moisturizer is full of many interesting ingredients that are geared toward helping with anti-aging, but the ones that stood out to me were aloe vera, shea butter, and jojoba oil.
First, aloe vera is a great ingredient for anti-aging because it can help heal the skin from previous signs of aging as well as even out the skin tone. It can also help reduce inflammation and help moisturize the skin.
Next, shea butter is supposed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as smooth and tighten the skin. It contains a bunch of vitamins that are great for the skin and can help with moisturizing the skin.
Lastly, jojoba oil can help the skin greatly because of its antioxidant properties. It can help fade fine lines and wrinkles as well as help add moisture to the skin and even out the skin’s tone.
These three ingredients together can really help with anti-aging and evening out the skin’s texture and tone!
