Overall Opinion:
I was excited to try the InstaSkincare Retinol Serum because it has a lot of really good reviews online, but to my disappointment, this retinol serum did nothing for my skin.
The texture of this retinol serum is different than many I’ve tried before. It feels very heavy and sticky, and just generally weird on the skin. Even after you totally rub it in, the texture feels strange and unfortunately it never dries down; it leaves a sticky residue on the skin.
This retinol serum comes in a bottle with a pump which I always prefer as it’s easy to apply and keep sanitary. The scent of this retinol serum isn’t a good one. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it smells like, but I really don’t like it.
Something I was surprised to see was that water is the number 1 ingredient in this retinol serum. Although water is great for the skin, none of us want to see water as the first ingredient.
Short term I really didn’t notice any difference to my skin at all. And, unfortunately, I didn’t see any difference to my skin long term either. It didn’t help at all with any of my fine lines or wrinkles and it also did nothing for the tone and texture of my skin. What a huge disappointment!
Overall, I won’t be reaching for InstaSkincare Retinol Serum again, as it didn’t benefit my skin at all.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
The texture and feeling of InstaSkincare Retinol Serum isn’t exactly a pleasant one. The texture on the skin feels very slimy and very weird, unlike most other serums I’ve tried.
Application
This retinol serum comes in a bottle with a pump which makes application easy. We always appreciate a pump because of the ease of use, cleanliness, and control of how much product you apply.
Drying Time
It never totally dries down, which is a huge bummer. The weird texture of the serum continues as it leaves a gross, sticky residue on the skin, which is never preferred.
Smell
This retinol serum has an indistinct scent. I really can’t put my finger on it, but what I know is that I don’t like it. The smell doesn’t last but it’s definitely not pleasant.
Short Term Results
Short term, I really didn’t see any difference to my skin using this retinol serum.
Longer Term Results
After using InstaSkincare Retinol Serum for a longer period of time, it really did nothing for my skin. I didn’t see any big changes in my fine lines and wrinkles, nor did a see a difference in the tone and texture of my skin. I was pretty disappointed in these very underwhelming results.
Ingredients Analysis
Something I can appreciate about InstaSkincare Retinol Serum is that is doesn’t have a ton of ingredients, meaning there isn’t a lot of filler ingredients.
A few of the ingredients that stood out to me in this retinol serum were Aloe, Purified Water, and Hyaluronic Acid.
First, the very first ingredient in this retinol serum is water… although we all know water is good for our skin, it’s not the first ingredient I want to see in my skin care. I don’t normally see water listed so high on the ingredients list so this was surprising to me.
Next, hyaluronic acid is an ingredient that I see very often in retinol serums. Hyaluronic acid is great for anti-aging because it helps plump up the skin by helping the skin retain hydration.
Lastly, aloe is a very healing ingredient that can really help with anti-aging. Aloe helps to block free radicals from the skin which ultimately age the skin.
Price
The cost of InstaSkincare Retinol Serum is $12.99 for 2 oz of product, which comes out to $6.49 per oz.
As retinol serums go, this one is very reasonable priced.
Guarantee
Unfortunately, there is no money back guarantee for this retinol serum, so you can’t try it risk free.
