Overall Opinion:

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum is supposed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, help boost collagen production, etc. But I found this product to be very lacking in those benefits.

The texture and feeling of this serum is super light and thin, and has kind of a watery consistency. When you apply it to the skin, it feels slippery and super cooling on the skin.

It’s really easy to apply with the dropper and a little bit of this product goes a long way. You only need about 2 drops for the entire face and neck.

The smell of this product is kind of minty at first which I don’t mind, but as it dries down, it smells a bit more like alcohol which I really don’t like. As it dries down, it already starts to feel really drying on the skin as well.

After using this serum for a short period of time, I saw no noticeable differences to my fine lines and wrinkles, but I didn’t notice that skin was much more dry and flaky than normal.

After using this serum for a longer period of time, I continued to have the same issue. My skin was incredibly dry and I started to get dry patches on my skin around breakouts. Not only that but I continued to see no difference at all with the fine lines and wrinkles on my skin.

Overall, I was really disappointed with Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum and I wouldn’t recommend using this product if you are looking to target fine lines and wrinkles and give your skin a more youthful look.

Detailed Opinion:

Texture/Feel

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum has a very thin and watery consistency that feels slippery as you rub it in, but drying as it dries down.

As you apply the serum to the face, it has a cooling sensation on the skin which feels nice.

Application

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum comes in a dropper bottle which makes for easy application.

Since this serum is super thin, a little bit goes a very long way. I suggest only using about 1 drop on the face and 1 drop on the neck and chest.

Drying Time

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum dries down fairly quickly… in about 15 seconds.

Smell

When you first apply Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum, it smells kind of minty like menthol but a little less medicinal smelling. As it dries down though, it starts to smell like alcohol which I absolutely hate.

Short Term Results

After using Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum for a night or two, my skin felt super dried out. I didn’t notice any difference besides for the dry and flaky skin, definitely no difference in my fine lines and wrinkles yet.

Longer Term Results

Over a longer period of time, Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum continued to dry out my skin and created dry itchy patched around my face, specifically where I had breakouts.

I also noticed literally zero difference in the fine lines and wrinkles of my skin which was super disappointing. If anything, the dryness of my skin caused my skin to look older not younger.

Ingredients Analysis

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum has a lot of interesting ingredients; the ones that I found particularly interesting were aloe, willow bark, and vitamin E.

Aloe is an ingredient that can help with fine lines and wrinkles by healing the skin, as well as tightening the skin and shrinking pores which is never a bad thing.

Willow bark naturally exfoliates the skin which can help with fine lines and wrinkles because of the resurfacing caused by the exfoliation.

Vitamin E can actually prevent and reverse the signs of sun damage because of the antioxidants it contains. It also works to fight off and block the free radicals that can cause aging to the skin.

These three ingredients are great and in combination should work well to help prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles.

Price

The cost of Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum is $14.99 for 1 oz.

This is a very average price for a retinol serum.

Genius Retinol 2.5% Serum has a 30-day money back guarantee.
