Overall Opinion:
Overall, Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Brightening Solution is about above average when compared to other retinol-based products.
It felt good on my skin… no stickiness and no nasty side effects!
It also really helped the texture and appearance of the skin on my face and neck.
And my acne disappeared and my lines faded a little…
I was really concerned about the 3 different acidic ingredients mixed together with retinol when I first started using it, but it turned out it wasn’t much of an issue.
The two biggest drawbacks are the price and the lack of hydration in my skin that this oil caused.
I also didn’t like that it only came with 30 microfiber pads, because that forces you to reorder every month, even if you still have oil left in the bottle.
In addition, although this product made my skin smooth and didn’t cause dryness, I did need to apply more moisturizer than normal to keep my skin hydrated.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Brightening Solution is a very lightweight liquid oil.
Although it has more body to it then water, it‘s very thin and almost resembles water in texture.
Application
Applying Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Brightening Solution is quite easy, but also unique compared to most retinol products.
Each bottle comes with 30 white, microfiber pads.
You can apply it by hand as an all-over treatment or use the pads to target specific areas of concern.
Each night when I applied this product I used a microfiber pad so that I could see maximum results.
It was simple to apply and I used it each night.
Drying Time
This product dried very quickly… almost immediately.
This is such a lightweight product that as soon as it hits your skin it quickly absorbs.
Smell
Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Brightening Solution is pretty close to fragrance free.
The little smell that is present is what I would describe as medicinal.
It’s very faint and disappears as soon as it’s applied.
Short Term Results
After waking up the next morning after using this product, I didn’t notice any change.
My skin looked fine, and I didn’t experience any side effects, but I also didn’t notice any real difference.
Longer Term Results
Longer term I noticed some positive changes in my skin.
I was broken out on my forehead when I started using this product, and even after a few days of use, my skin was 100% clear (that’s the salicylic acid working).
My wrinkles on my neck improved a little over time and my skin did appear to become a bit more firmed and toned.
My skin looked a little healthier too.
Ingredients Analysis
Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Retinol Brightening Solution contains an interesting mixture of ingredients.
When I first saw the mixture of salicylic acid and retinol, I was concerned that it would be extremely drying.
But that turned out not to be the case… it was a bit drying but nothing too terrible.
This combination of ingredients really helped to diminish blemishes, acne and helped to give my skin a glow.
Ferulic Acid is found in many common foods such as rice, oranges, and apples.
It’s a powerful antioxidant, which is why it helps diminish spots on your skin.
This product is also vegan and paraben-free which is a huge plus.
Price
A one ounce container of Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid and Brightening Solution costs $88.00.
This is incredibly expensive– there’s no two ways about it.

The Dr. Dennis Gross website gives you 30 days to return the product, which is nice.
