Interesting Ingredients: Bakuchiol, Watermelon Fruit Extract, Apple Fruit Extract
I was excited to try Burt’s Bees Firming Eye Cream Renewal because of the natural retinol alternative and it certainly didn’t disappoint!
This retinol eye cream has a pretty standard texture and feeling, nothing about it really stood out to me in a positive or negative way. I did find the application difficult due to a clumsy pump that didn’t want to dispense the product, but once it was on the skin, it was easy to use.
My favorite thing about this product is that it’s natural and uses such interesting ingredients. Bakuchiol, along with the fruit extracts, is becoming more popular in skincare and it’s fun and exciting to use a product that not only contains those ingredients but works well.
I found this retinol eye cream worked well to help brighten under my eyes, plump up my fine lines around and under my eyes, and give my eyes a more plump appearance overall. I was impressed!
Overall, this eye cream worked well to help brighten and plump under my eyes and I would definitely use this retinol alternative again!
The texture and feeling of Burt’s Bees Firming Eye Cream Renewal are pretty standard when it comes to creams; it didn’t feel especially thick or thin and there was nothing that really stood out about the way it felt on my skin.
Something that kind of annoyed me about this product was the application. The product comes in a bottle with a pump which is typically my favorite kind of applicator, but this pump didn’t work well at all. I had to continually pump the bottle to get any product to come out and when it did, it was random and not consistent.
This retinol serum doesn’t totally dry down on the skin, but it actually didn’t bother me. It doesn’t leave any kind of gross residue on the skin or leave it feeling sticky, it just never fully absorbs.
This retinol cream doesn’t have much of a smell; it smells a bit natural and herbal but there is no added fragrance which is great.
Short Term Results
After using Burt’s Bees Firming Eye Cream Renewal short term, I noticed my eyes looking brighter which was pretty impressive how immediately that happened!
Longer Term Results
After using this eye cream for a longer period of time, my eyes continued to look brighter and less tired. I also noticed the fine lines around my eyes were plumped up and under my eyes looked more plump in general.
Since this is a natural retinol alternative product, there is a ton of really interesting ingredients! A few of the interesting ingredients are bakuchiol, watermelon fruit extract, and apple fruit extract.
First, Bakuchiol is the retinol alternative in this product and it’s known for being gentler on sensitive skin while still packing a punch for anti-aging. It’s supposed to have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that are great for healing the skin.
Next, watermelon fruit extract is a very interesting ingredient and it’s one that we see popping up more and more in skincare. Watermelon fruit extract is supposed to work wonders on sun damaged skin because of its powerful antioxidant properties. It’s also known for helping cellular turnover and regeneration.
Lastly, apple fruit extract has many beneficial qualities for the skin, but when it comes to anti-aging, it’s great for tightening the skin and giving it a firmer appearance.
All together, these three natural ingredients are interesting, different, and powerful in helping the skin with anti-aging.
The cost is $17.99 for 0.5 oz of product, which comes out to $35.98 per oz.
This is a bit more expensive for a retinol cream, especially one that is sold in drugstores.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any money back guarantee.
